Longreach

In Longreach, we explored the iconic Stockman’s hall of fame and the Qantas founders Museum, both offering a deep dive into Australia’s rich outback history and aviation heritage.

The Stockman’s hall of fame is a great spot to learn about Australia’s outback heritage. From stockmen to pioneers and Indigenous Australians, the museum showcases their stories through interactive exhibits and live shows. We loved seeing the history come to life and walked away with a deeper appreciation for the rugged outback lifestyle.

The Qantas founder museum is a must for anyone interested in aviation. It tells the story of how Qantas, Australia’s iconic airline, began in the outback. We loved exploring the planes, including walking through a Boeing 747, and learning about the airline's humble beginnings. It's a fascinating place, and the kids were amazed by the size of the aircraft on display. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Longreach!

During our time in Longreach, we stayed at a great free camp just outside of town, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. We took the tinny for a cruise along the Thompson River, enjoying the peaceful outback scenery. It was a beautiful way to end the day, surrounded by nature and the wide-open skies.
