Moreton Island

We have visited Moreton Island twice and loved it both times. One visit, we stayed at the resort, enjoying all the facilities, and the other time we camped on the east coast, which was equally beautiful. Exploring the island was a lot of fun and it was pretty quiet driving around both times we went.. The ferry ride over takes about 75 minutes each way, and it’s definitely worth it.

Things to do on Moreton Island:

  • Rent a boat for a few hours to explore and snorkel around the Tangalooma wrecks — we even saw whales swimming through them, which was pretty cool.

  • Visit the Cape Moreton Lighthouse for stunning views.

  • Take a dip in the natural rock pools at Champagne Pools.

  • Explore North Point and Honeymoon Bay, both perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature.

  • Discover the Desert and slide down the massive sand dunes.

  • Drive down to Blue Lagoon for a beautiful freshwater swimming spot.

  • Visit Mirapool lagoon

  • Make sure you up to watch the sunrise

  • Take the fishing rods and enjoy a fish while watching the sunset.

Moreton Island is a peaceful paradise with plenty to keep you busy and amazed.
