Rapid bay

Rapid Bay, tucked away on South Australia’s stunning Fleurieu Peninsula, quickly became one of our favourite coastal spots. We spent our time boating, squidding, swimming, and canoeing/paddleboarding. The water was crystal clear and so calm, and with those cliffs and caves surrounding the bay, it honestly felt like we’d stumbled on a hidden gem.

We camped right by the beach, which made things super easy and laid-back. It’s one of those places where you can really switch off and enjoy the simple things—good company, good views, and plenty of time outdoors. We stayed with friends, and that just made it even more fun. There were loads of laughs, lazy afternoons by the water, and the kind of memories you hang onto.

The campground itself is pretty basic, but that’s all part of the charm—and the best part is, dogs are welcome too! There’s no power or drinking water, but if you’re self-contained, it’s perfect. There are a few council-maintained toilets, so it’s still accessible for tents and camper trailers too. The beachfront location and quiet atmosphere make it a great spot to slow down, unwind, and just enjoy being by the ocean.
